Min tid i Colombia går mot sitt slut, men fortfarande så trivs jag bra och har massa kul med mina vänner här. Fortsätter att jobba på skolan, vissa dagar är bra, vissa är tuffa med barnen. Men igenom allt så lär jag mig mycket, jag har stor respekt för lärarna här, de offrar mycket, gör ett bra jobb och ger av sig själva varje dag. Jag har även haft en intervju mitt i natten (tidsskillnader argh! Men skype är toppen!) med högskolan jag sökt in till i höst, det gick bra och inom en vecka borde jag få reda på om jag kommit in eller inte. Jag har sökt till Örebro Teologiska Högskola, på Örebro Missionsskola. Det är ett 4-årigt program som ger en kandidatexamen i teologi och en pastorsexamen.
My time here in Colombia is coming to an end, but I still enjoy it here and have lots of fun with my friends here.
I continue my work at the school, some days are good, others are tough with the kids. But through it all I am learning a lot. I have great respect for the teachers here, they are sacrificing a lot, doing a great job and giving of themselves daily.
I have also had an interview, in the middle of the night (aggh time difference! But skype is great) with the university that i applied for, this fall. It went well, and within a week I should know whether I made it or not. I have applied to a theology seminary in Örebro. It is a 4 year program that will give me a bachelors in theology and I will also be a pastor.
Jag vill berätta lite om maten här i Colombia, det jag har ätit här iallafall...
De äter mycket med koriander, i alla soppor, och de äter rätt mycket soppa. En jättegod soppa med majs, potatis, kyckling, lök och koriander. Vi äter även arepas, vilket har samma form som pita bröd fast det är med majsmjöl. Man kan äta dem med korv, ost, eller vilken fyllning man vill. Det finns även söta arepas med en annan sorts majsmjöl. De äter man vanligast med smält ost på. Mums!
Vi äter även en hel del pannkakor, tror inte det är särskilt colombianskt, men i UMU får man prova olika maträtter.
De äter även mycket bönor och linser, jag äter det minst en gång i veckan, oftast 2 gånger i veckan.
De äter mest ris, men även en del potatis, men då ofta tillsammans med ris, inte så mycket pasta, och pastan är inte av samma kvalitét som i Europa. Brödet är vitt, vitt, vitt. Det går inte att hitta riktigt grovt bröd.
De har mycket olika frukter, som vi inte har i Sverige, tex maracuya, granadilla, guanábana, lulu. De gör ofta färskpressad juice av dem, med vatten eller mjölk.
I want to tell a little bit about the food culture here in Colombia, about what I have eaten at least...
They use coriander a lot, especially in their soups, and they eat a lot of soups. A really good soup they have is one with potatoes, corn, chicken, onion and coriander. We also eat a lot of arepas, which is a corn bread, looks like pita bread but made of corn flour. You can eat them with anything, sausage, cheese, or other fillings. There are also sweet arepas that are made of another kind of corn flour, those you usually eat with melted cheeze on, super yummy!
We also eat pancakes a lot, it is not typically colombian, but since we are a mix of cultures you get a mix of foods.
We also eat a lot of beans and lentels, at least once a week, often twice.
They also eat a lot of rice, also potatoes, but then often together with rice. They don't eat pasta much, and the pasta is not of the same quality as the european one. The bread is white, white, white, you cannot find real dark bread like we have in Scandinavia.
They have lots of yummy fruits that we don't have, like maracuya, granadilla, guanábana and lulu. We often make fresh juice of it, with water or milk.

| The guys here are funny and really cool! Two guys just started making braids in my hair. Not very common in my culture, that guys like to play with my hair. :) Killarna här är roliga och coola! Två killar började plötsligt att göra flätor och håruppsättningar i mitt hår. Inte så vanligt i min kultur att killar gillar att greja med mitt hår. :) |

| It isn't very common either that two guys (other guys than the one with the hair) spontainously offer to give you massage! I also enjoyed Nataly giving me foot massage. Det är inte heller särskilt vanligt att två killar (inte samma killar som i andra bilden) helt spontant erbjuder sig att ge en massage! Jag gillade också Natalys fotmassage. |
